Meet the Manager: Amanda Kichton
HGI GM Amanda Kichton
Amanda Kichton has worked at all four H&B Hospitality properties. She has also been with the company for 8 years! She is an incredibly valuable part of the H&B family. I recently had the chance to sit down with her and talk about what makes this industry so important to her.
What initially interested you in working in the Hotel Industry and how long have you been working for H&B Hospitality?
I was initially drawn to the hotel industry because of my passion for hospitality—I’ve always enjoyed creating positive experiences for others, and the hotel environment felt like the perfect place to do that. I've been in the hotel industry for over 10 years, with the last 8 spent at H&B Hospitality
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started?
I wish I had known that it's okay to make mistakes or experience failure—as long as you learn and grow from it. I also wish I had understood earlier how to manage stress in a way that makes me more productive, rather than letting it become a hindrance.
List three adjectives you think your team would use to describe you.
Personable, organized, and receptive.
What is one fun or surprising fact your team might not know about you?
I really enjoy playing any type of game, whether it’s a board game, card game, or video game.
What are you looking forward to professionally?
I’m looking forward to continued growth within the hotel industry and gaining experience in managing large-scale operations.
What qualities should a team leader have?
I believe a team leader should have the ability to inspire and coach their team to understand and work towards a shared goal. They should also know how to manage employees as individuals, understanding what personally motivates and inspires each team member.
What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend?
I love spending weekends either reading a thriller or socializing with my friends.
